Interview programme (2019). In this episode of Getting Personal, Deepa Shastri meets Pierce Starre, a performance artist who is also a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults). As the mother of a CODA, Deepa is interested in Pierce's use of their childhood experiences in their art – and how they seek to use art to inform people about the Deaf community. Deepa is surprised to discover that Pierce, who is hearing and fluent in BSL, feels stuck between the Deaf and hearing worlds.
