Two brand new series coming to BSL Zone!

Posted on 6th February 2019

BSLBT is delighted to commission two new series in 2019.  In Getting Personal, Deepa Shastri meets various Deaf people and talks in depth about sensitive experiences that have shaped their lives and brought them to where they are today. This series will be made by Drummer TV, and will be produced by Cathy Heffernan.

As well as this, we have a new cookery programme, Punk Chef on the Road, in which Punk Chef (AKA Scott Garthwaite) travels around the UK meeting food producers, chefs and Deaf people, and, of course, cooking mouthwatering food.  Bim Ajadi will be directing this series, which is being made by Hungry Gap.

Kerena Marchant, BSLBT’s Head of Content, said: “I'm absolutely delighted the board has decided to commission these series.  Getting Personal enables BSL Zone to tackle hard hitting issues like mental health that impact on our lives.  Punk Chef on the Road opens the doors to the culinary world that Deaf people have often faced a language barrier to.”

You will be able to watch the pilot episodes of both of these programmes very soon – keep an eye on our TV Schedule page to find out when!
