Former Nickelodeon and UKTV executive Tim Patterson is new BSLBT Chair

Posted on 7th April 2020

Tim Patterson, former senior executive at Nickelodeon and UKTV, is the new Chair of the BSLBT.

Tim brings more than 30 years’ experience in television to BSLBT, where he had previously served a five-year term as a board director. He replaces Interim Chair Lynn Cutress.

“It’s a great privilege for me to rejoin the BSLBT team,” he said. “They are doing tremendous work in delivering original, high-quality content in BSL for the Deaf community. As Chair I look forward to helping them build on that success.”

Tim Patterson’s arrival at BSLBT follows a change in structure after Ruth Griffiths, formerly Executive Chair, became Chief Executive. Lynn Cutress as Interim Chair oversaw the recruitment for the new post of Chair.

“I was very pleased to collaborate with Lynn through this process,” said John Wilson of BSLBT’s Nominations Committee. “With Tim we have someone who brings a vast wealth of experience across the broadcasting world and, as a former trustee, a real understanding of BSLBT’s role and its work.”

Tim Patterson, who started his career at the BBC, worked at Granada, Walt Disney, BSkyB and Fox Kids before becoming Head of Editorial Operations at UKTV and then Vice President and Director of Programming UK and Ireland at Nickelodeon UK Ltd / Viacom. Most recently he has been CEO of Larkshead Media Ltd and of T1M Consult Ltd. He is a BAFTA member and also a management coach and mentor.
