We’re thrilled to announce that our productions received an amazing five awards at last weekend’s 2019 Film and TV Awards Gala at Deaffest!
To Know Him scored a hat trick, winning Best Film, Best Director for Ted Evans and Best Actress for newcomer Jemma Joyce!
Deaf Funny 3 won Best TV Programme, and John Maidens won Best Screenwriter for Dot, which was an amazing way to mark the end of Mental Health Awareness Week.
We at BSLBT are so proud of all of our programme makers and we send huge congratulations to everyone who won awards, and all nominees too. You’re all brilliant!
We’d also like to thank the organisers of Deaffest 2019 for doing an amazing job in running another successful Deaffest weekend. It was lovely to meet so many people at our stall, watch films and performances and catch up with each other. Our Head of Content, Kerena Marchant, also took part in an interesting panel discussion on career pathways.
We all enjoyed ourselves very much and were proud to be official sponsors. We’re looking forward to the next Deaffest already!
