Almost bags another award and a festival!

Posted on 29th April 2020

Almost, the LGBT+ short film directed by Teresa Garratty, will be shown on the New Zealand Deaf Short Film Festival website in May!  The online festival will be taking place between 4th – 10th May, and there will also be an awards ceremony on 9th May.  It will be very interesting to see what that’ll be like!

Unfortunately, Astoria Film Festival, which was due to take place between 15th – 17th May, has been postponed to 30th October due to COVID-19.  However, Almost will still be screened at this festival in autumn so watch this space!

Finally, Almost has won another award at OutlantaCon, a LGBT+ short film festival!  The award went to Vilma Jackson for Best Performance.  Vilma said, ‘I am so honoured to receive the Best Performance award at OutlantaCon, which is becoming one of the biggest LGBT+ film festivals in the USA. Many thanks to wonderful director Teresa Garratty who made this happen. I believe that Almost was the first LGBT short film on BSL Zone and I am looking forward to seeing more exciting deaf films on the site. The film gives something meaningful to Deaf LGBT+ community. I would like to congratulate all the Almost team for their hard work.’  We at BSLBT congratulate Vilma on the award, as well as the rest of the Almost team!
