A Deaf man from the north east of England, Alex Duguid, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, for “services to Deaf People and British Sign Language Education”.

Alex has worked in TV, storytelling and teaching BSL/Deaf awareness for many years.  Recently, he appeared in the first Life Stories programme on BSL Zone, so you can watch it to find out more about him!

BSLBT’s Head of Content, Kerena Marchant, said: “I was delighted to learn that Alex Duguid has been awarded an MBE in the Honours List. It is certainly well deserved for his contribution to Sign Language education, Deaf television and his tireless community work for Deaf people.”

Many congratulations, Alex, from all of us at BSLBT
