The Hub 2:4 (May 2012)

News and current affairs

News-based magazine programme for the sign language community. In this episode, presenters Gavin Lilley and Elizabeth Bojas reveal the good news - that Elmfield School for Deaf Children in Bristol, which was threatened with closure, will now remain open. Clive Mason reports on the legacy of the 2003 announcement of recognition of BSL - and the British Deaf Association’s intention of bringing together the various groups supporting BSL for a BSL Symposium to begin working towards legal recognition. John Walker comes into the studio to discuss why Deaf people aren’t supporting Deaf charities as much as before. We also look at how Deaf football may be given a new lease of life with the help of Manchester United. Don’t miss it.
