Haiti: Source of Hope

Documentary: How Deaf people in Haiti rebuilt their lives after the 2010 earthquake

Documentary. The earthquake in Haiti in January 2010 killed at least 230,000 people and left over 300,000 injured. Many were left homeless. In the chaos that followed, the Deaf community found itself more isolated than ever.  But thanks to the organisation International Deaf Emergency, founded by Emmanuel Jacq, they have been able to begin the task of rebuilding their lives. In this film, director Sandrine Herman finds out how Deaf lives have changed, and how they are being put back together with international help.  Produced for L'Oeil et La Main.
