First of two programmes about Terry Riley, retiring Chair of the British Deaf Association and Deaf TV pioneer.

Chat show. Tessa Padden interviews Terry Riley about his early life in post-war Manchester. The son of working-class Deaf parents, he was already secretary of Manchester Deaf Club at the age of 15. After an eventful career as a Gas Board inspector, his life changed in his early 40s when an unexpected new career in television opened up for him.
