Two BSL Zone films at RTS West!

Posted on 21st February 2020

We at BSLBT were thrilled when we found out that two of our programmes have been shortlisted for Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England awards!  Getting Personal with Richard D France has been shortlisted for the Factual award, with I Want To Change The World shortlisted in the Children’s category.

Sebastian Cunliffe, who produced and directed I Want To Change The World, said he was “Delighted - especially as the programme featured zero voice over and 100% BSL, and is now up for a mainstream award.  The programme highlighted an important issue: the lack of a BSL GCSE.  Many thanks, BSL Zone, for commissioning this programme.”

Rachel Drummond-Hay from Drummer TV, which produced both programmes, said: “The strength of these programmes is testimony to Cathy (Heffernan) and Sebastian and the entire team, both on screen and off, who have worked so hard to produce films of such high standard - and of course to our wonderful first time presenter Deepa, and our fantastic contributors Richard and Daniel who were so generous in opening up to us and telling us their stories.  Fingers crossed for the awards night!”

Of course, we at BSLBT also have our fingers crossed!  If you want to find out more about RTS, you can visit their website here.  If you’d like to watch the programmes, click here to watch Getting Personal with Richard D France, or here for I Want To Change The World.
