Our upcoming drama Tree Fairy, which is a magical Christmas story, now has a full cast in place!
To find out more about the film, just watch our BSL video with Outreach Worker Steven Wynne on the righ-hand side of this page!
The film, which will be made by Remark Media, is about a tiny fairy who helps an 8 year old deaf girl called Libby to enjoy Christmas at home with her family. It will combine a mixture of live action and animation.
Three days of auditions were held in August, with around 25 actors invited to audition for five roles in the drama.
Each of them had to perform a section from the script in front of the Director Louis Neethling, Producer Camilla Arnold, and Executive Producer David Horbury.
All of the actors were fantastic and the standard was really high, so the trio found it incredibly difficult to pick an actor for each role - in fact it took them nearly a fortnight to decide on most of the cast!
The final cast can now be confirmed:
Libby - Olivia Jordan-Caws. It is the first time Olivia has appeared in a drama and she is incredibly excited about playing Libby. The hard work starts now as she has to learn a lot of lines!
Tree Fairy - Rebecca Ann Withey. Rebecca is an experienced actress who appeared in Life Out There and had a long term role in the CBBC drama series Grange Hill.
Dad - Chris Curran. Chris is a seasoned actor who appeared in Deafinitely Theatre's play Double Sentence and Channel 4's drama series Cast Offs.
Suzi - Liz Wyatt is a seasoned actress who played Karen in Switch. Her passion for yoga makes her well suited for the role as Suzi!
Tilda - Nicole Bird. It is the first time Nicole has appeared in a Deaf drama and she is looking forward to it already. The team have been teaching her some basic BSL to help her get by on set!
Grandma- Irene Bradshaw. Irene is not only an actress but also a voice coach, and can put on over 40 accents!
Producer Camilla Arnold said: "We are incredibly excited about getting the film off the ground after months of meticulous planning. Filming commences next Thursday so the Remark! office has become a hive of activity. We are surrounded by Christmas trees, lights and baubles which is rather disorientating!"
"Everything is being finalised- we've got a beautiful house in Tooting Bec that is big enough to house our 25-strong team! Filming commences next Thursday (26th September) and will run until Sunday (29th September). We have people running around like headless chickens trying to source mince pies and turkey which is proving to be difficult at this time of year!"
