BSLBT's 2019 Script Bank scheme is now live!

Posted on 1st October 2019

We are pleased to announce the launch of a pilot writing scheme called Script Bank. This is a new initiative to invest in Deaf writing talent and enable them to develop 28-minute television BSL drama scripts, supported by Deaf-friendly drama expertise.  As well as developing Deaf talent, the aim of the scheme is to create a ‘bank’ of drama scripts with the potential to be commissioned by BSLBT for production later in 2020/21.

Please click here to be taken to our Script Bank page, with an information pack and application form - all in BSL and English.

We are looking for ideas that will appeal to BSL Zone audiences and can fit within BSLBT’s remit for BSL Zone drama programmes.

To be eligible, you must be Deaf and have written or co-written the script for a television drama or short film or theatre production.  They do not need to have been produced.

Successful applicants will work with the Script Bank team through all the stages of development.

The Script Bank team are:

  • Abigail Davies - Project Director/Script Editor
  • Charlie Swinbourne – Development Executive
  • John Maidens – Development Executive
  • James Banks – Script Developer
  • Sam Calder-Bray – Script Bank Project Manager

The deadline for applications is Monday, 4 November 2019 at 12 noon.
