The GB Women's Football team ( pictured top right) have gone one better than 2009 by winning their bronze medal match at the 2013 Deaflympics in Sofia!

Four years ago in Taipei, there was heartbreak for the GB team when they lost their bronze medal match 2-0 to Russia, finishing fourth and returning home without a medal. But today there were jubillant scenes on the pitch as the hard-fought victory over Poland sunk in.

There was drama during the match when one Polish player suffered a serious injury and had to be taken to hospital, with an ambulance arriving at the ground.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw and, in scorching hot conditions, the teams had to play extra time then a penalty shoot-out. Fortunately for GB, they won the shoot-out 5-3!

However there was disappointment for Catherine Fletcher (bottom right) in the tennis, as she finished fourth in three competitions.

Yesterday, Fletcher lost her doubles bronze medal match (with Bethany Brookes), and today she was forced to withdraw from her singles bronze medal match with an injury that meant her shoulder was heavily strapped, and she was forced to serve underarm.

Later, after treatment she went back onto the court to play her mixed doubles bronze medal match with her husband, Lewis Fletcher, but they lost in two sets.

It was a brave effort from Fletcher, who played a number of matches across three tournaments at the games and was carrying injuries over the last few days.
