  • Far too short! This subject needs a full programme, or even series, in its own right. Hopefully that will happen via BSLBT.

  • I cried when I saw the problems Stephan Pink was having in his old age. Stephan was my boyhood hero, big and strong, he was a boxer and boxed at Kings Hall at Belle Vue here in Manchester in the 1940/ 50's. It is a scandal that there are no Homes for old and disabled Deaf people, why do we Deaf always have to be second to hearing people, we have as much right to companionship in our old age as everyone else. when is something going to be done about it.

  • Here in Manchester we had a home for old deaf people at St Joseph's mission to the Deaf and it was great. there was no need for the old aged Deaf to spend their last few years in isolation, unable to talk to their friends. Until they were shunted out and dispersed to different homes around Manchester. The N H S took over. I have never found out the reason why that happened, but I suspect it's because N H S is paying rent to the Church. Disgusting!!
