The Zoom 2014 scheme gives Deaf directors their first experience of making a broadcast film, with support from production company Neath Films.
In this BSL video (right) Jack Smallwood tells us about himself and the documentary he is making.
Jack is 23 and he lives in Wolverhampton, where he currently works as Media Officer for Zebra Uno. Jack was Assistant Deaffest Organiser for the annual Deaffest film festival - which is run by the company.
His film will be called This is I, Remember Me, and it looks at Deaf people with dementia. “It’s not a nice disease,” Jack says.
Jack’s intention is to look at how dementia relates to Deaf identity, and its effect on Deaf people’s ability to sign.
