With a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Germany, the GB Women's football team have reached the semi-finals of the Deaflympics!

The team won despite their captain, Damaris Cooke being forced to miss the match through injury. She still played her part though - in the photo gallery (right) you can see Cooke and the team's manager Chris Gywnn giving the team a talk at half time during the match.

In Cooke's absence, Laura Wiseman captained the team against Germany and she rose to the occasion, scoring the team's first goal of the Deaflympics with a long-range effort from 30 yards.

The victory was sealed by substitute Danielle Evans, who came off the bench to score the winning goal. The team were clearly delighted and will now play USA in the semi-finals on Thursday.

It will be a tough test - the USA team have a 100% winning record, having won all three of their matches in the tournament so far. In two of the games, they thrashed their opponents, beating Greece 11-0 and Japan 7-0 respectively.

However, if the GB Women's team win that match, they will be guaranteed a silver medal at least.
