A Deaf student has been inspired to go to university after watching a BSL Zone programme.
Anastasia Frolova is currently studying Design Crafts at Cleveland College of Art and Design in Middlesbrough.
Anastasia had ruled out going to university, believing it would be too hard because of her deafness.
Her interpreter, Asha Bhoobun, who describes Anastasia as being very good at her course, had tried to persuade her without success.
Then she showed Anastasia our recent Close Up programme, which interviewed Deaf artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq about her life and career, including her academic achievements.
Asha told us: "It was like switching on a light bulb; her mind was suddenly changed and she said it was because Rubbena had inspired her. I am over the moon with her decision and it was all down to watching an episode of 'Close Up'. Good job everyone on the team, you are doing a fantastic job! Thank you."
Anastasia added: "If Rubbena can do it; then I can do it! Rubbena has inspired me. Now I want to go to CCAD in Hartlepool after my course has finished in 2016; to study Contemporary product design or Surface pattern design. I think these courses would really suit me!"
