Zoom 2011: CODA
A drama: A Deaf girl’s struggle to fit in with her hearing family
Drama about a Deaf woman’s struggle to fit in with her hearing family. During a family meal, she is left out and later, she tries to explain how she feels to her parents in sign language. When she has a hearing daughter, questions of identity re-emerge, culminating in a flashpoint at a family party. Will her parents ever understand, or will they remain worlds apart? The debut film from Deaf director Melissa Mostyn-Thomas, CODA was made as part of the BSLBT’s Zoom filmmaking scheme.
This film has full subtitles for both deaf and hearing viewers.
